Water Supply
You will be happy to learn that from Jai Hind Jal Prakalpa recently inaugurated at Dhapa. For maintaining pressure of water a headwork booster pumping station is already set up at Mukundapur.Old pipelines are being replaced by new ones as rust wrapped old pipes are incapable to conduit high pressure water. Health
To cater health related problems, a Primary Health Care Unit is running at Mukundapur, beside Mukundapur Bhawan.A qualified Medical Officer and health professionals are there to give you treatments for Dengue, Malaria and many other common ailments at tropical climate. As M.O is quite experienced of treating patients frequently suffered by prevailing virus, bacteria, fungi and locally common infections, you are advised to visit this centre if required. Treatments are provided free of cost. Pathological tests like fasting & PP Blood Sugar, Hb, WBC, RBC, Platelate counts in Blood, Malarial Parasites and Dengue etc are provided free of cost. For any problems related to private hospitals like AMRI, RN Tagore, Peerles, Medica, Shankar Netralaya, Apex you may directly contact to ward office for guidance. General Medicines for fever, cough & cold and other common diseases are also supplied free of cost. The other important work is Vector Control .By mitigateg van gogging and other methods we try to control mosquitoes and also destroy larvas to arrest mosquito born diseases.
Parks & Gardens
Excersise, Jogging, Walking, Yoga can keep your mind and body healthy. There are at least 15 parks and squares in ward 109. Take your children there for playing as most of the parks are provided with slips, roller-coaster, sea saw, swings etc.
Even clubs are being financially assisted to set up modern gymnasiums. You can participate in various games in the well maintained playground.
Lighting
Almost all lanes, streets, roads, parks, & square are illuminated. KMC has set up high mast light poles in many places in the ward. Fused lamps are changed by new ones on a regular checking. CESC is coordinated for any faults or disruption immediately for restoration.
Sewerage & Drainage
KMC is constantly working for improvement and maintenance of surface and underground drainage system. In 1985 this area was added with Kolkata proper by inclusion under KMC. Since then nobody had taken any initiative for development of sewerage & drainage, including previous councilors and MMIC who had literally given up facing such a daunting task. Due to unplanned system which could not develop as modern Town and Country Plan norms, many areas go inundated in rainy season due to overflow of canal water. so, desilting and cleaning of underground drains are the main work we do throughout the year. However this involves huge cost, so the work is limited to few pockets only. Before the advent of rainy season, since last year (2016-17) a dozen of pump sets were installed on temporary basis which helped us to stop long experienced water logging in this ward.
Roads
Engineering Department under borough xii, KMC is entrusted to develop new roads besides its maintenance. As Metro Railway construction is going on E M Bypass, pedestrians and vehicle movements are affected. For smooth traffic, Ward office regularly coordinating with Purba Jadavpur Traffic Guard, Metro Rail Authority and PWD (Roads), Govt. of West Bengal. Roads inside the blocks are developed with black tops and kerbed channels. For removal of pot holes, widening, arrangements of Kerbed Channels and black top surfacing of important roads,PW (Roads) Department are consulted and pursed frequently repairing, removal. Hon’ble Mayors’ fund, Municipal Commissione’s Fund and councilors’ Fund are also brought in on top of Borough funds for repairing and provision xii of new roads. All motorable roads in ward 109 are maintained for smooth traffic as they pass through famous hospitals, malls, and educational establishments and used by heavy traffic. A vigilant drive is constantly being made to develop new roads or repair and maintenance for lanes and streets inside the blocks of ward 109.
Social Warfare
Certificates are being issued to girl child so that they can avail Kanyashree benefits. Other certificates are also being issued to SC, ST, OBC. Pension is being provided to old age, widows and handicapped. Even the folke artistes, artisans are being given assistance for getting pension from Govt. of West Bengal.
Regular health check up camps, cataract operation camps, Blood donation camps, distribution of clothes to poor, distribution of books, providing scholarships, felicitating meritorious students are done for the residence of this ward.
Assistance is provided for ambulance and death. Providing Wheel chairs to handicapped.
Bustee Development
The population of this ward consists of more than 70% in the slum. So our main focus is to develop the environment of colony and bustee.With the help of Dept. of Environment, Govt. of West Bengal many works are taken up. Pond and water bodies around and near slum areas are taken up for beautification work.Roads, drainage, water supply are also given priority in the slum areas. Clubs are being assisted and taken on board for developing work along with respective central committees in the colony.
Education
KMC is running two primary schools at Buderhat and Daspara. Sarba Siksha Mission is also running a Junior High School ‘Charan Kabi Mukundadas’ at Mukundapur.
